How to Start 2021 on the Right Paw

Me: “We want to wish you an incredibly happy 2021. Our New Year’s Eve is quiet so far and we are grateful for that. It was a rainy day, and the temperatures are dropping rapidly. I am going to be busy cooking our traditional meal of ham, black-eyed peas and cabbage on New Year’s Day. My stomach is growling just thinking about it. I might try baking some keto cornbread later tonight.”

Bentley Basset: “Happy New Year! We aren’t going to have to make any lame resolutions, are we? Frankly, I’m pretty close to perfect as is, am I right?”

Pierre Westie: “I am going to stop barking so much. This is the year that I live and let live…even squirrels. Ignore other dogs barking is my new mantra. (snicker, chuckle, snort) Just kidding! I’m going to try to catch squirrels and lizards every chance I get.”

Spring Into Health With Dr. Harvey's

Spring is the time of year for rebirth and renewing our promise to take better care of ourselves and pets. The days are getting longer, and the weather is nice so spending time outdoors with our dogs is a safe option during this time of self-isolation. As we practice self-care, it’s important to make sure our dogs are healthy too.

A Work of Art

Like any good pet parent, I have 3,000+ photos of Bentley and Pierre on my phone and won’t hesitate to show them to anyone that stands still long enough. Of course, the photos that Skipper takes of them just scream to be displayed and what better way to showcase my favorites than on canvas. I love, love, love the look of canvas photos and I've been needing one of Pierre. That’s why I was so excited when I discovered Collage.com. The process looked super easy, so I enlisted the help of the Bayou Boys for our review.
*We received n 11x14 canvas print in exchange for this review. Barking from the Bayou only shares products or services that we love, and feel will benefit our readers. Collage.com is not responsible for the contents of this article

Welcome to My 11th Birthday Party

Bentley: “Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes. It really means a lot to me. My 11th birthday was a lot of fun. We all went for a walk in the afternoon around our neighborhood. Mom brushed me for an extra-long time because she knows how much I love it. Mom and Dad both gave me lots of hugs and belly rubs. Add some yummy cookie with ice cream and it was a perfect day!

I promised to share some of the pictures from my birthday party so I hope you enjoy these. I’ll be your moderator for the festivities.

A Wooftastic Breakfast Buffet For Your Dog

We were recently sent some H&P Dog Treats by our friends, Henry and Penny in exchange for our honest opinion. They not only have their own dog treat company, but these two adorable French Bulldogs have over 100,000 followers on Instagram, some viral videos, commercials and an online boutique. Talk about busy!
Bentley Basset Hound: “Hey, Mom! What’s that incredible smell? Have you been baking banana bread without me?”
Pierre Westie: “No way, dude! I smell peanut butter pancakes. There is no mistaking the delicious aroma of peanut butter with a hint of honey. Mmmmm!”

The Power of Power Pops

The other day when our delivery of Dr. Harvey’s arrived, the Bayou Boys seemed unusually giddy. I know they love their Paradigm and Pierre can barely contain himself while I mix in their protein and oil each meal. No, this was something different. That’s when I saw the bags of Dr. Harvey’s Power Pops inside the box!

How to Keep Your Dog Golden in Their Senior Years

“Hello everyone, this is Bentley Basset Hound and today I will be revealing my secret to feeling golden in the senior years. It actually isn’t a secret; it is Dr. Harvey’s Golden Years. Mom adds it to my food each day and I gobble it right up. I've been using it for a couple of years now and I can’t say enough about the positive changes it has made in my body.
You might have read our post the other day about my PetMedella Pet Wellness Analysis Kit where we shared how awesome my results were. The consultant Mom spoke to couldn’t believe how healthy I am at nine years old. We credit Dr. Harvey’s Fine Foods and Golden Years. Seriously, I scored in the upper 90% in almost all areas of health!

Discover An Oracle for Your Pet

Dr. Harvey's Grain-Free Oracle Dog Food

Me: “I love Dr. Harvey’s Oracle Freeze-Dried Foods for dogs and cats. It is not like any other food you have experienced. My friends at Dr. Harvey’s have created a complete food with carefully selected proteins, the finest quality ingredients and it is made here in the U.S.A. The best thing about Oracle is how simple it is to feed the Bayou Boys a homemade raw diet. They think I work hard preparing them an ideal blend of fresh high-quality meats, fresh veggies, delicious fruits, vitamins and essential nutrients. Don’t tell them but all I have to do is add water!”

In Flagology We Trust

If there is one thing we do here on the Bayou, it is fly our flags. Our neighborhood is a mixture of homes flying Old Glory, their favorite sports teams, or fun seasonal flags. You can tell a lot about a family by their flag. When people pass by our home, there is no doubt that we are big L.S.U. fans. We wave the purple and gold throughout the year. The problem is we live where there are a lot of Tiger fans. Nobody wants to have the same flag as their neighbor.
"Which one do you suggest, Bentley?"

Pick Up the Dog Poop ~ No More Excuses

Let’s face the facts; there will always be people that refuse to pick up after their dogs. It is annoying, irresponsible and illegal in many areas. Why do some people refuse to scoop their dog’s poop? I am sure there is a myriad of excuses but not a single legitimate reason.

The following are NOT acceptable excuses:
Picking up dog poop with a Sooty Paw Paw bag.
Sooty Paw Paw® is one of Barking from the Bayou, LLC sponsors. We received monetary compensation for advertising on our site. It’s just dog poop, what’s the big deal?
Did you know that the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention confirms pet waste can spread parasitic worms, parvovirus, and salmonella?  Pet waste is classified as a dangerous pollutant.

F'lint Retractable Rollers Mean the End of Lint

If you look at my wardrobe, you would think my favorite color is dog hair. There are days when I think I have more dog hairs on me than Bentley and Pierre have on their bodies! This is why I always lug around one of those ginormous lint rollers. You know the ones that I’m talking about where you have to cram them sideways into your car’s glove compartment to make it fit. They are a pain, but what’s a pet lover to do? Don’t go chasing your tail trying to find a better solution. Think Product Lab™ has invented one for us.
Six F'lint retractable lint rollers
Let me introduce F’lint; the retractable lint roller that is compact enough for most purses. It won the 2015 Red Dot Award for design concepts! You can choose from a rainbow of colors making F’lint not only functional but fashionable. It is perfect for tossing in your luggage, briefcase, dog bag, or backpack. Now you no longer have to coordinate your outfit to match your dog’s hair.

Dream Big with #ThePeanutsMovie

Let me start by stating unequivocally that I LOVE CARTOONS. As far back as I can remember, cartoons have made me laugh, cry, and laugh some more. When Charlie Brown’s Christmas debuted in 1965, it became a part of every Christmas memory. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the gang have always been a staple in my home for the holidays. We have enjoyed a Peanuts Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s, and Easter. Now, the entire gang is making their big-screen debut in state of the art 3D animation! I can hardly wait.

Is it Friday already?

Do the weeks seem to be getting shorter?  Trying to grasp each day is like trying to catch a flea…you reach to grab Tuesday and come back with Friday pinched between your fingers!  I haven’t done half of the things I had planned for the week.  This is the condensed version of what we’ve been doing in Bayou country.
