Top o’ the morning to y’all and Happy St. Patrick’s Day! As you can tell we are not Irish, but it is
said that everyone is a wee bit Irish today.
We have certainly been having the luck of the Irish so far in 2014. Since I am also superstitious, I hope that
talking about our luck won’t make it run out anytime soon. It has really been a great year thus far.
Bentley and Pierre wanted to tell you some of the good fortune
that we have been blessed with so far.
They also seem to like taking over my keyboard lately. Now without further ado, here’s their take on
our luck.
Bentley: “Mom, I wanted to say top o’ the
morning. Now, I don’t know how to
begin. Okay, maybe I could say something
about kissing the Blarney stone.
Pierre: “Who is this stoned Blarney fella? Does he live in Colorado? It’s legal to get stoned there, ya know.”
Me: “No, it is not a person. It is a stone in the castle of Blarney, which
is located near Cork, Ireland. If you
kiss the stone, you are supposed to be blessed with the gift of gab and skill
in flattery.”
Pierre: “Gramma must have kissed that stone silly,
because she sure has the gift of gab! Hee
Hee!”
Bentley: “You are one to talk Sir Barksalot! Anyway, I found a great Irish quote, but it
is for the end of this post. You’re
gonna love it!”
Me: “I thought you boys wanted to tell our readers
about the good luck we’ve been having.”
Bentley: “We do but just so ya know, it isn’t the luck
of the Irish. It’s the luck of having a
Basset Hound with a lucky #7 on his side.
Umm, that’d be me!”
Pierre: “I think it’s because we have a four-leaf
clover patch in the backyard. Papaw
found over fifty four-leaf clovers last year.
Our cup runneth over with luck!”
Bentley: “Well, whatever it is, we are some lucky
dogs. Mom started the year by winning a
three-month subscription to PetBox on the BlogPaws Twitter chat on New Year’s
Eve.”
Pierre: “Yes sir that has been a pawsome prize. Then, remember how she won a free bag of
Petbrosia dog food for you? That was
from her friend Jenna at Love is being owned by a Husky. That food must have been great, because you
got another bag and are going to do a review next week. I have noticed that you’re keeping up with me
a little better.”
Bentley: “I love the Petbrosia and I will be doing
that review with Mom. You can’t do it,
because they formulated the food especially for me. She did win some doggielicious edible
greeting cards from Crunchkins and Dakota’s Den that are amazing. Oh wait; those all have Basset Hounds on
them. Woop, Woop!”
Pierre: “You’re lucky that I’m not a jealous
breed. Besides, just the other day she was
“Perked” from Klout. Did you get a whiff
of the Hill’s Science Diet Grain free dog food?
I’m so gonna get me some of that deliciousness. And just so ya know, I have already put my
mark on the flying throw toy that came with the bag of food. That means that it is mine. Don’t tell Gramma, but I hung the strobe
collar light up in my kennel. Now, it
looks like a 70’s
disco party. I am jammin’
out at night while you three snooze.”
Bentley: “Only four days ago she won an Unbreakoball
from Dogs N Pawz. As soon as that comes
in, I am going to learn to play soccer.
It’ll be so sweet to have something that is Pierre proof. For a little guy, you sure do wreak havoc on
our toys. She ordered the big
Unbreakoball so we can play outside with it.”
Pierre: “Wow, we do get a lot of goodies. That’s not all though, Gramma was also chosen
to be the Featured Pet Blogger for March on BlogPaws. That’s quite an honor even if we don’t get
treats. She did get a cool badge on her blog. Hey, what’s with the new flower badge over
there?”
Me: “That is my Field of Flowers award. My friend Susan and her gang
over at Life with Dogs and Cats gave me that just the other
day. I have to award it to seven other
bloggers. It’s is beautiful, isn’t
it? We will do a special post to give it
to someone else. We sure do thank her
and the rest of her gang for such a nice award.”
Bentley: “Tell them about how your book The Returns
with me on the cover was a Featured Great Read on Digital Book Today. That was exciting. I’m sure it was my handsome mug sticking out
of the FBI badge that garnered that coveted spot.”
Me: “Yes, I’m sure that
was the reason. It has nothing to do
with the fact that it’s a great read.”
Pierre: “It is a funny book but I prefer the cover
with me featured on it. You know we
should ask them very nicely if they‘d go to AUTHORSdb and vote on our book
covers. Both of us are featured on a
cover so they can vote for both of us.
Should we hint that we want them to give us five stars?”
Bentley: “Our readers are smart. They’ll know that five stars is the way to vote. I’ll just give them the link. http://authorsdb.com/books/2014-book-cover-contest/humor-entertainment-2014 Maybe I should remind them of the book titles. They are The Returns & The Returns 2~Showstoppers. We would really, really a gazillion times
over thank y’all for supporting us.”
Me: “Thanks for reminding me of the contest. I’d really appreciate the votes. Is there anything else that y’all can think
of that makes us lucky?”
Pierre: “Well, my Mom & Dad got to come from
Alaska to visit me for a couple of weeks.
That was my favoritest lucky dog moment.”
Bentley: “I think we are lucky to be blogging about
dogs. It is something we both know a lot
about. It is also how I met my cyber-sweetie,
Emma. We have met so many new, cool dogs
and Mom has made a lot of new friends from the pet blogging world.”
Pierre: “I’m thinking that Gramma may be wrong about
us being Irish. We are two lucky quadrupeds!
Bentley: “Indeed we are Pierre, indeed we are. Now it’s time for me to end with my big
closing. Are y’all ready? I took a few artistic liberties with the
verses.
May your water bowl
be ever full,
May your woof be
always strong,
And may you be at
the Rainbow Bridge half an hour
before the devil knows you’re gone.
May a good human
always be your companion,
May your doggy
friends stand by your side.
May history remind
us all
Of a dog’s faith and
pride
May God bless us
with a wagging tail.
May love, belly
rubs, and faith abide.
Happy St.
Patrick’s Day!
