Why I Am So Thankful This Thursday

It has been a good while since I participated in a Thankful Thursday post. Not because I didn’t have anything to be thankful for, it is just that my calendar is full, so I put it off for another week.
Sometimes you receive such good news that all other things get pushed back and you want to shout THANK YOU from the rooftop or quietly with your head bowed. In this case, I want to do both!

A few months ago, I wrote a personal post titled, “When Someone You Love has Cancer.” It was about my amazing niece and her battle with stage 3 colon cancer. Kelsey was diagnosed on January 20, 2017. She had major surgery and had to go through chemo. She recently had her last treatment and has been waiting for the scan to see if it worked. That happened on Monday and Wednesday we found out that she is…

CANCER FREE!!!
Doesn’t that have the sweetest sound to it? She will continue being checked on a regular basis and with Lynch Syndrome, more tests are required but she kicked cancer’s butt like a champion! Many of you sent prayers and good wishes. Kelsey read them all and they truly helped.
I also wrote how she was brutally attacked in her work parking lot by a thug with a long rap sheet. Let me say that he has been sentenced to a long time in prison for his crimes and I couldn’t be happier. She stared him down in the courtroom just like she did her cancer diagnosis. I will be forever in awe of her strength and courage! Kelsey has proven that monsters can be beaten and that the good guys do actually win sometimes!

I also mentioned in my first post that her sister, Holley, is running the New York Marathon in Kelsey’s honor on Team Stupid Cancer. The date is November 5th and she has raised $5,240 of her $6,000 goal. She reached her initial goal of $5,000 but wanted to raise the bar. If you would like to help her with a contribution of any size, it would be awesome. You can visit her Team Stupid Cancer page to donate and read more of her story.
We also want to say a public “thanks” for some fabulous prizes that we have won. The Bayou Boys and I love to win goodies! These are all super nice.
*I have added my Amazon Affiliate link to some of these prizes in case you'd like to order one for your dogs or cats. I will receive a small commission that won't affect your price at all.

You are so welcome for the snuffle mat! Our lips are sealed, but we can't wait to see how the boys like it (and we know Christmas will be here before we know it!). I'm happy you got a little bonus too...hee hee, yes we wouldn't want to confuse anyone else since we were all quite confused about it ourselves! :) (We did get our own and we'll be having that review & giveaway soon).
