It's a Whole New Year

Well, we have made it through another year and greet a new one with high hopes.  Things have changed so much for us here on the bayou over the past 365 days!  Just like each year, things will change even more in 2015.  Our wish for you is that each change is positive and makes you happier.

One of the ways that we try to ensure a wonderful New Year is to eat a traditional New Year’s Day dinner.  There are certain foods that we eat religiously here in the south on January 1st.  In case you aren’t familiar, let me explain.  In order to have a terrific 2015, I cook a ham for progress, a huge pot of black-eyed peas with ham hocks for good luck and two heads of cabbage for money.  That is served with pans of fresh baked cornbread.  For desert, we have icebox lemon pie.  It is my husband’s favorite and is super easy.  I cannot guarantee this meal to magically change your year, but it is delicious and why take the chance?  Here is the Lemon Pie recipe for you.

We are hoping to make a few changes around here this year.  Our first change is the new header.  I am currently featuring Bentley and Pierre, but there are some behind the scene action happening.  Pierre is being transferred to live with his mom & dad.  He will become our east coast reporter.  Our new chocolate Labrador granddog, Paisley is eager to get her paws wet in the BFTB NETWoof News business.  Bentley has agreed to take her own as a Lab Tech Assistant and roving reporter.  It should be fun!
Before we go eat our way to happiness in 2015, I want to take the time to say thank you for all of your support and comments since we began last year.  Y’all have made writing Barking from the Bayou such fun and I look forward to sharing many years together.  Have a wonderfully fun 2015!

I am excited to co-host Thoughtless Thursday with my awesome friends Ruckus the Eskie and Love is being owned by a Husky.  Drop in to see them along with these other fun thoughtless blogs!

  19. I need a couple million heads of cabbage, guess I need a couple million dollars to pay for them to get me more money. Great traditions, I don't do anything. I love the new header. When is Pierre going to be leaving? That is going to be so sad but I'm sure his mom and dad will be so happy to have him back home. Glad you have Paisley to fill his shoes. Have a great New Year.
