Strike Gold with Dr. Harvey's Health + Shine

Two bowls of Dr. Harvey's dog food with golden Health + Shine fish oil supplements added

Dogs and cats can benefit from additional oils added to their diets. Feeding Dr. Harvey’s homemade dog foods allow me to add the oil of my choice to each meal. I like to mix it up, so we alternate coconut, olive, and salmon oil. They enjoy the taste of all of them but let’s face it…adding oil can be messy. I am always wiping the bottles and jars of runaway drips! It is also important to administer the correct amount. If you add too little, you are defeating the purpose and if you add too much, you’ll be cleaning up loose poop. That is why I LOVE Dr. Harvey’s Health + Shine, you always know you’re adding the perfect amount. Dr. Harvey's Health + Shine jar with golden capsules on black background
These convenient golden capsules are pre-measured and mess-free! Give one capsule daily for every 20 lbs. your dog weighs. The formula for cats calls for one capsule every day. You can pierce the gel skin and squeeze the oil directly on their food if they prefer. I just toss Bentley and Pierre’s in their meals and they gobble them up.

Spring is here and has brought lots of pollen and grass allergies. Bentley used to get dry itchy skin at this time each year. Adding two Health + Shine golden salmon oil supplements help relieve his allergic reaction and reduce his shedding. Those things are very important for a hound that loves the great outdoors!

“Hello, it’s Bentley Basset Hound and I am super psyched to tell you about my new bed from PrideBites™. It was one of the first things since we moved that was officially mine...all mine. If you have brothers or sisters, you are probably used to having them use your things without asking. Pierre is always trying to steal my beds, play with my toys, and even share my treats. I’m a good sport about most of those things but I draw the line at my PrideBites Stormy Paws Canvas Bed!

Poo Happens or Takin' Care of Business #ChewyInfluencer

The person who claimed that nothing is certain, but death and taxes obviously never had a dog! Pet parents all know that poo is one of life’s certainties and it is our responsibility to clean it up. It’s not the most glamorous part of having a dog but there are ways to make it much easier. Thanks to, we have discovered the perfect dog waste bag for our new home.

We are Influencers and received Frisco Dog Waste Bags in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and is not responsible for the contents of this article.
We used to have a huge backyard and pooper scooping was part of life. It wasn’t until we began to unpack here that I realized my beloved pooper scooper was left behind! Luckily, our new backyard is small so picking up the boys’ business is easy. That means we were using a lot more waste bags than we did before. That’s where Chewy saved the day and our pocketbook!

An Interview with a Really Old Mother

Bentley Basset Hound: “It’s Mom’s birthday and we always enjoy interviewing her on this momentous occasion. Pierre and I have written down some of our burning questions so let’s get right to them.”
Woman with Westie dog
Pierre Westie: “Happy birthday Mom! How are you feeling? At your age, aches and pains must be a part of life. Exactly how old are you anyway?”
Me: “You aren’t supposed to ask a lady her age. Let’s just say I’m not quite a senior citizen.”

BFTB NETWoof News March 19, 2018

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the week of March 19,2018. We have fetched some important reports to share with you. Let’s toss it over to my co-anchor Pierre for our top story.”

Pierre Westie: “It appears that United Airlines has more problems than an algebra book when it comes to transporting dogs over the past few days. The trouble began on a flight from Houston to New York when an attendant insisted a family place their 10-month-old French Bulldog in its carrier inside the overhead bin. When the family arrived at LaGuardia airport, the puppy had died. United has taken full responsibility for the tragedy and the flight attendant claimed not to have known the kennel contained a dog. That is hard for us to believe. We also do not understand why the family went along with the order to stow their pup in the overhead storage. Most pet parents that we have talked to say they would never have abided the order even if it meant being taken off the flight.

It Takes a Village to Move

It is hard to believe that we have been in our new home a little over a week. Our journey began over a year and a half ago. I haven’t shared too much behind the scenes of selling our home and buying a new one in a different city/state. Now that the dust is settling, I want to thank all the people who helped us get here. Believe me, it takes a village!

Pi Day

Needless to say, the Bayou Boys were NOT happy to discover it was Pi Day instead of Pie Day!
Pi Day is celebrated on 3/14 all over the world.
We believe Pie Day should celebrated be EVERYDAY!

Just What the Doctor Ordered

Dr. Lyon's Hip + Joint disclaimer
We were recently selected by to review
Dr. Lyon’s Hip + Joint Support. This advanced strength supplement is perfect for any size dog. Bentley and Pierre are completely different in size and activity levels but I’m concerned about both of their hips and joints. Next month both Bayou Boys will be considered seniors although you couldn’t tell by watching them! It is very important that I keep them healthy and mobile to avoid stiff joints.

BFTB NETWoof News March 12, 2018

Bentley Basset Hound: “Welcome to BFTB NETWoof News! We are so happy to be back with y’all after our big move to Texas. It is still a work in progress but there are fewer boxes so that is a positive. We have missed reporting and I’m sure the regular dreary news has left you needing a smile. Let’s check with Pierre for our happy top story.”

Pierre Westie: “Everyone knows that a dog can cheer humans up when they are feeling sad. It seems instinctual for us to know when you need some extra love or a puppy dog smile. That is exactly what happened at an airport with Cora the Corgi.

Howdy Podnuhs

Howdy y’all! The Barking from the Bayou gang are official Texans and could not be happier. We’re unboxing everything we spent the past few months packing but it is beginning to feel like home. Bentley and Pierre are settling in as they recognize familiar furniture and their things. They have been exploring the rooms and getting lots of smell action in the yard. I have much more to tell you but need to get back to discovering what’s in all of these boxes!
We will be back to full-time blogging next Monday but stop by for some fun the rest of this week!
Now, get along little doggies and kitties! LOL!

It's Flu Season for Dogs Too

The flu season is not just having an impact on humans. The canine flu is also making its rounds. Although it's not to the epidemic stage the human flu is, it is still a good idea to take precautions with our dogs.

The Sun Rises with Dr. Harvey's Solaris

Dr. Harvey’s is committed to helping our pets live longer healthier lives. Their newest product is aimed at boosting your dog’s immune system and contains ingredients that may be helpful in the treatment of cancer and diabetes.
I am adding the two formulas to Bentley and Pierre’s meals in hopes of preventing any illnesses due to the stress we are experiencing as we try to move. This will work in conjunction with their Paradigm pre-mix food to reduce their risk of developing cancers or diabetes.

I worked in a local high school for many years so every time there is a shooting at a school, it really hits home. We send our children to school to learn and expect them to come home at the end of the day. Yesterday, seventeen Florida students did not and my heart breaks for their families and their community. I don’t have any answers to the violence and craziness but still believe there is more good than bad in the world. We are sending prayers for all of those affected by this senseless violence.

Life is Better with Treatibles PCR Hemp and MCT Coconut Oil

Basset hound and Westie looking in box
I am an affiliate for Treatibles and if you make a purchase using my 10% saving code BFTB, I will receive a small commission. Thanks in advance!
Let me just say this right off; moving is STRESSFUL!! It has been 25 years since our last move, so we have really gone through a ton of stuff. As of today, most everything we own is boxed up and ready for the U-Haul. Neither of the dogs have experienced so many changes in their surroundings. Pierre usually freaks out when anything is out of place, so this could have proven to be a major upheaval for him. Bentley is more chilled but can become very clingy when we are stressed out. Did I mention moving is very stressful?!?

BFTB NETWoof News February 12, 2018

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News and weather for the week of February 12, 2018. We hope that you enjoy the news including our top story. For that, let me toss it over to my co-anchor Pierre.”
Woodchuck photo credit: Cephas
Pierre Westie: “This story is very sweet and perfect for the week of love. A family discovered a woodchuck not moving in their backyard and feared the worst. They decided to pick it up with a shovel and give the poor thing a burial but when the shovel touched it, they noticed a slight movement. To get help, they called a local wildlife rehabilitator who rushed over to assist. She took the woodchuck home and began intensive care to get fluids and food in the wild animal. Over the next few weeks, the woodchuck started feeling better and became quite the snuggler with her rescuer.

Bentley: “You know we are always excited when Chewy shows up at our door. There is no telling what Mom has ordered because the folks at Chewy have a little bit of everything. Ordering is super easy and most products arrive in two days.”
Pierre: “I can’t wait to see what is in the blue box. Fetch it inside!”

What a Difference a Year Makes

Basset Hound flying a kite with Westie copyright
Pierre Westie: “Do you remember last year when we celebrated Go Fly a Kite Day by attaching me to a huge kite?”
Bentley Basset: “It seems like only yesterday that you were soaring with the birds and squawking even louder. I’m glad that you finally relaxed and enjoyed yourself.”

Packing It Up

Bentley Basset: Oh My Dog! What is going on around here, Mom? It is like everything we own has been hidden in boxes.”
Pierre Westie: “Seriously, she has even packed up most of our toys. We can only hope that our food doesn’t disappear in a box.”
Me: “Boys, the reason that we are packing everything is because we are moving in a couple of weeks. Y’all will have a new home and yard to explore. I promise your toys, beds, supplies and most importantly, Dr. Harvey’s food is going with us. Why don’t you go play outside while I talk to our friends?

BFTB NETWoof News with two dog news anchors

It is not a happy story but one that needs to be told so that it never happens again. #WhenWeKnowBetter
